Focus on the Cross

Our Mission

“We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making His appeal through us. We implore you on Christ’s behalf: Be reconciled with God”   (2 Corinthians 5:20 - NIV)
Focus on the Cross ministry is based on our love and belief in Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior…the Good Shepherd, the Son of Man, the Alpha and the Omega, et cetera as the names and titles for Jesus goes even further. Before reading through this summary of Our Mission we encourage you to read through the other pages on this website for His Ministry and His Cross first as the ultimate goal and mission of Focus on the Cross ministry is to lead others to Jesus Christ.

In order to carry out the mission of Focus on the Cross, and to advance the kingdom of God, we are utilizing our God given talents in woodcraft through the manufacturing and distribution of handmade wooden crosses. If interested there is a link to a video on the home page which provides more insight on the efforts of the ministry and the origin of its founding. Again, Focus on the Cross has a passion for growing the kingdom of God, being a witness to others to put their faith in Jesus, and pointing others to their salvation which is only obtained through ones faith in God’s Son, Jesus Christ. As ambassadors, and a vessel for Jesus, we accomplish this by having a loving heart and holding paramount that anything we are doing through the efforts of the ministry is done because of the talents that we have been blessed with by God and ensuring all of the glory is directed to Him. Just having the opportunity and getting the chance to share our love for Jesus is a blessing for the efforts of Focus on the Cross ministry. By being rooted in our faith in Jesus, we accept that our life is not about us…it is all for Him. Focus on the Cross also has a passion for instilling the meaning of love for our neighbors as defined by scripture in that love is the giving of self, not loving ourselves, but loving our neighbors as ourselves. So with that being said, our mission supports widows, homeless, and orphans. We use the acronym ‘WHO’ to identify this group for the ministry and have a separate page on this site for a more in-depth discussion and further insight.

Some interesting physical attributes of the cross in regards to it’s shape. The conventional style crosses that the ministry builds are all designed with a 3:1 ratio for the relationship of the longest to shortest cross-members at the center-point of their intersection. The longest cross-member, the lower member, from the center of the intersection of the cross is three times longer than that of the left, right, and upper members. This is a great reminder of the trinity, or triune God…Father – Son – Holy Spirit.

Another physical attribute of the cross is that it has twelve corners along its outer perimeter…Jesus had twelve disciples. The significance of twelve is also found in many other places throughout scripture in both the Old and New Covenants; however, the cross is His cross and by focusing on the significance of the cross, and ultimately Jesus Christ, this is also a great reminder of the significance of everything that was a part of His first coming, as well as, His ministry.

So, what do you see when you look at the cross? How do you view Jesus and the effects of His ministry? Our hope and mission is that you will see the wisdom and power of God both in the cross and in the life of Jesus…boasting only in the cross and nothing of mankind. In addition, with every cross that is produced by the ministry, we hope that it serves as a reminder to any that see it of the wrath of God that was satisfied on the cross by His Son, Jesus. Just to list a few more things to focus on when looking at the cross…the atonement of all sin, the defeat of death, and the ultimate sacrifice of God's Son, Jesus which all took place on the cross and was all done for us. Our belief and hope is that our salvation is anchored in these very foundational truths. Our salvation is not earned by any works or good deeds but is a gift from God through His grace that only comes by the repentance of our sins, committing our lives to Jesus by dying to self, and picking up our cross to follow Him daily. Just as Jesus commanded of His disciples, making His mission, “our mission”, is only made possible through our faith in Jesus Christ, proclaiming the gospel, and living in Him.
